patterns á la Órgiva

Brilliant hand-painted wall in Órgiva, it was actually a set of welded together caravans, classic! Really aesthetic I thought, with a touch of turquoise.

old?

Ok , another school run find! I got some weird looks from the builders at this building site, but I couldn't care less, they were about to plaster over these pillars. Brilliant colour palettes.

dates

Saw it on the school run, beautiful dates, ready to be dried up by this glorious winter sun. They cut them all down from the thousands of date palms here in Aguadulce but no one eats them!

Illustrator: Adrian Johnson

Ooh lovely post on stylesight.com blog, just wanted to share it, I think his stuff is brilliant, no shy colours and amazing boldness in form.

Over the years, Liverpool-born Adrian Johnson has developed a unique and strongly identifiable body of work. His trademark highly crafted graphic work is constantly evolving, always maintaining a healthy distance from current trends and passing fashions.

The Sellable Sketch with Michelle Fifis.

Just finished a couple of weeks ago the best e-course ever! The Sellable Sketch with Michelle Fifis from the patternobserver.blogspot.com, was a 5 week intensive with pikaland.com. After doing her Essential Guide to Repeats I wanted to take it a step further, so I did! I learnt so much and got my confidence back after a long slump. I created my first repeated pattern design collection (this one for wrapping paper) and have another 6 on the way! I have realized looking back over sketchbooks from the past 4 years that I was made to make patterns! Another passion! So watch this space...
