Yipee, lovely to see these published....I did some drypoint prints to accompany this brilliant story of my sister's (www.medinatenour.com). Nice bit of typography on their behalf integrated this bold image of an East African landscape very well.

"El Monito Valiente"

A page from my first children´s book "El Monito Valiente". This scene is where Tari the little monkey and his frog friend get to the top of the giant tree in the jungle, and they realize they they live on an island! They´re off to explore the others too! I hope the high perspective gives a positive feel to this page, it´s kind of a momentous monkey moment. mmmmmm

Illustration Friday: Seed

I did this linocut as an illustration for an article in Seasons jounal, March this year. The article was about disbelief in Islam. I thought it was really interesting to find out from the article that the root of the work disbelief in arabic is "kufr" which also means to cover, so a kafir, or a dibeliever is one who covers up the truth they have inside. Furthermore, kafir is the same word for a farmer, as in the person who covers the seeds with earth. The image of the seed trying to grow but being covered from the light by human hands seemed to be the perfect way to portray this complicated subject!
